The best-rated hotels in Peñíscola

Searching for «the best hotel in Peñíscola» and getting three lists instead of one looks like a dodge. It is the opposite. Booking scores out of 10, Google and TripAdvisor out of 5, HolidayCheck out of 6. Averaging a 9.4 with a 4.8 does not produce a measurement: it produces a number nobody measured that happens to sound authoritative. We do not do it here, and the structured data on this page declares no rating of our own.

The best-rated place in town is not a four-star

The first on Booking is Dios Está Bien, with 9.4 out of 10 over 753 reviews, and its category is ★. The best-rated four-star is Castillo Spa, at 9.0.

It is worth spelling out, because it is the commonest misunderstanding when booking: stars do not measure satisfaction. They measure facilities and services against a regulation — lift, room size, minimum services — and a small, well-run place can satisfy more than a large four-star without breaking any rule. Score and volume are two different lists

The property with the most Booking reviews is Plaza Suites, with 5,377, and by score it sits at number 29 of the 35 measured. The first by score, Dios Está Bien, rests on 753.

Neither figure beats the other: the score says what guests thought, and the volume says how much confidence that score deserves. With thousands of reviews it is hard for a handful of good or bad stays to move the mean; with two hundred, not so hard. Anyone booking on reputation should read both columns.

Where the Gran Hotel Peñíscola stands

It is not the best-rated property in town — the tables above say who is — and it is the one with the most reviews by a wide margin: 4,427 on Booking at 8.2/10 (7 August 2026), which is what makes that figure the hardest in town to move with a handful of stays.

What it offers is a different thing: number 132 of the seafront avenue, 3,806 m from the castle, a spa, half board and full board in buffet, and a starting rate of 69 €. If the highest score is what decides your booking, book elsewhere — and we would rather say that than lose your trust on arrival.
